The 1956 drought decimated the ranchers’ and farmers’ economy of the Navarro County in Texas. City planners and Engineers designed the Richland Reservoir as a result. A third of a billion dollars later, one of the largest masses of water in the state was created, covering 60 square miles equivalent to the area of Washington DC entirely. This man-made lake, disruptive to the environment at first, brought life and balance to the population around, providing ample fluid reserve for years to come.
