The green-patched quilt-like pattern of the Coachella Valley agricultural plantations is visible from satellite views. The stark contrast of the arid desert environment with the greenery of these plantations is remarkable. Farmers are very proud of the efforts they take optimizing the precious water, using systems like drip-irrigation to minimize the consumption.  Endless rows of lettuce, dates, grapes, melons, carrots, and oranges are arranged in an orthogonal grid, following a precise industrial array of produce. 

This particular diagonal interruption caught birdie's eye but the sign on the road that read "Home of the World's Most Delicious Oranges" caught mine.
