In a country with so much history like Germany, any spot is a good one to stop and read the stories that its scenery tells us. Driving through the super-efficient Bundesstraße 39, we stopped here to enjoy the views and learn that the highway replaced the “High Road” that in the early middle ages connected Heilbronn and Heidelberg. Farmers of the day relied on this road to trade their crops with acorns to feed their pigs. They used to manually plow their lands creating furrow lines one after the other. Today, modern tractor technology, using geographic coordinates, trace the most efficient path to cover the area, creating a subtle coil pattern revealed in this image.
